also re that scientific fraud post, people who do that kind of shit are just unstrategic about it because what they want is easy access to accolades and positive attention. the most efficient way to do this in academia is to become a professor, make your students do a bunch of unpaid data collection, hire summer RAs to write the methods and analysis sections, read the draft, and then tack your name on as first author. if you do this hundreds of times your department will give you lots of money, no one will care that you abuse your students, and you will become a star academic with 20k citations on google scholar by the time you reach your 50th birthday
